US spent 27 rounds of climate negotiations in China for month

US President’s Special Representative on Climate Affairs John Kerry over the last month held 27 rounds of virtual negotiations with China on climate issues. He told about it during a meeting with the mayors of cities at the COP26 climate conference passing in the Glasgow Conference, RIA Novosti reports.

Also, according to Kerry, he visited China twice a month, trying to convince Beijing in the need for a dialogue to reduce emissions into the atmosphere. “We still keep hope. China is three times more throws into the atmosphere than we, and we are the second in the world,” the American official said.

He recalled that Beijing plans to build a coal power plant with a capacity of 260 GW. According to Kerry, if this happens, you can “stew light.” Special Representative of the White House added that all countries should be united to achieve emission reduction purposes. First of all, this concerns the G20 states, which account for 80 percent of global emissions.

Previously, John Kerry replaced US President Joe Bayiden at the climate talks when he intended to announce new plans to reduce methane emissions. The American leader had to withdraw from the meeting room, because too many people have accumulated in it.

The COP26 International Climate Conference takes place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12. Participants discuss the problem of global warming and measures that will help keep the temperature rise by 1.5 degrees Celsius.
