Romania asked EU on emergency assistance in fight against pandemic

Romania’s Ministry of Health asked the European Union (EU) on emergency assistance in the fight against coronavirus pandemic. This reports Politico.

Romanian Ministry of Health initiated the activation of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, which provides assistance to member countries in emergency situations. According to the publication, Bucharest requested the necessary amount of medicines for the treatment of 40 thousand patients with COVID-19.

Romania is the second EU country with the smallest number of vaccinated from the coronavirus of the population. So, only 33 percent of the country’s inhabitants received at least one dose of the drug. The European Commissioner for Crisis Situations Yanese Lenarsich said that the union will support Romania and will help it in a difficult period.

On October 1, it was reported that in the department of intensive care hospital for patients with COVID-19 in the Romanian city of Constanta there was a major fire. Nine people became victims of the fire. Due to the rapid spread of fire, some victims had to jump out of the lower floors of the hospital.
