A native of Germany will be judged for participating in protests in Minsk

Investigative Committee (SC) of Belarus completed the investigation of criminal cases of four more participants in the protests in Minsk in August 2020 and transferred them to the court. Among the defendants, a native of Germany, the press service of the department reports.

According to SC, a man succumbed to the influence of opposition telegram channels and rudely violated the public order during participation in unauthorized promotions in the center of Minsk. The department added that accused with other people ignored law enforcement officers and went to the roadway, which blocked the movement of public transport.

The 39-year-old native of Germany during the interrogation explained that he moved to the “coupling” with other persons on the winning avenue in order to avoid detention and attracting responsibility, “said Official Representative of the Office of SC on Minsk Catherine Garlinskaya.

The law enforcement officers emphasized that pictures are attached to the case, proving the guilt of detainees of Belarusians and Germans. It is noted that all four participants in protests were not previously tried, their cases were transferred to court. They face up to three years of imprisonment.

On October 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministry of Internal Affairs) of Belarus disclosed the identity of almost all active participants and administrators of extremist telegram channels and chats. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to date, work has been completed on deanonymization. The representative of the department stressed that the creators, organizers and participants in extremist formations will be attracted to criminal liability.

In Belarus, more than half a year continued mass protests after the presidential election on August 9, 2020. Shares were tightly suppressed by the security forces. Tens of thousands of people were detained, many told about torture and beating in insulators.
