Russia to save Kazakhstan from energy crisis

Russian Inter RAO plans to begin commercial electricity supplies from November, where serious energy crises are expected due to the development of cryptocurrency mining farms. This is reported by Kommersant.

The desired volume of delivery is up to 400 megawatt per day. So far, Kazakhstan decided without warning to increase the flows from Russia, it makes it possible to receive electricity at a lower price. The publication notes that such deliveries are unprofitable for Russia and are costly for the power system, because they need to include the most inefficient power plants.

for some estimates, the deficit in Kazakhstan is about 600 megawatts in the peak hours in November, and in the future it can grow to one gigavat. The number of miners cryptocurrency sharply increased in the country, but the power system was not ready for a sharp surge of demand. Save Kazakhstan from the energy deficiency can also include other companies with arrangements with Russian suppliers.

Inter RAO has increased electricity supply to Estonia and Latvia by 38 percent from October 15. The company also expects to confirm the increase in deliveries in November-December. Against the background of this Inter RAO increases the export forecast for the export of electricity this year to 20 billion kilowatt-hour.
