Height correction of ISS orbit

The height of the orbit of the International Space Station was adjusted as part of preparation for the arrival of the transport piloted ship “Union MS-20”. According to preliminary data, after maneuver, the height of the ISS orbit increased by about 940 meters.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at 10:05 Moscow time a team was issued and engines of the service module “Star” of the Russian segment of the station were included. Two corrective engines worked 38.9 seconds, and the impulse value was 0.54 m / s. Currently, the specialists of the Ballistic-navigation support service center of TsNiyimash flights (part of the state corporation “Roskosmos”) are calculated by the updated parameters of the ISS orbit. Earlier, the height of the ISS orbit was adjusted on September 24, 2021.

The launch of the transport piloted ship “Union MS-20” with two “space tourists” is scheduled for December 8, 2021. The duration of the flight will be 12 days. Roskosmos Alard Misurkin will be able to manage the “Union of MS-20”, and the Japanese billionaire entrepreneur Yusaka Maedzava and his assistant Jozo Hirano will be on board.

On board the International Space Station, ten members of the crew are working: Astronauts of Roscosmos Oleg Novitsky, Peter Dubrov and Anton Slovers, Space Flight participants on the program of the scientific and educational project “Call” Julia Peresilde and Klim Shipenko, Astronauts NASA Mark Wanda Hai, Shane Kimbrou and Megan MacArthur, Astronaut ESA Tom Sand, as well as Astronaut Jaxa Akikhiko Hoshide.
