Flight of first multi-seat manned ship

57 years ago, for the first time in the world, a flight of a multi-seat manned ship “Sunrise” was performed. On October 12, 1964, the Soviet piloted spacecraft “Sunrise-1” was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. It was the seventh piloted flight of Soviet spacecraft. It was performed without a scaffold and catapulting system.

On board the spacecraft “Voskhod 1” was a crew as part of the commander of Vladimir Komarov, a researcher-cosmonaut Konstantin Feoktistov and a cosmonaut’s doctor Boris Egorov. Call sign members – “Ruby”. During the day of staying in space, the ship was afraid of the globe 16 times, and the flight range was almost 700 thousand kilometers.

During the flight of the Srekhod-1 spacecraft, an extensive program of scientific and technical research has been performed. Commander of the ship V.M. Mosquitoes together with kp. Feoktistov operated control and monitoring of devices, performed the manual orientation of the ship, supported radio communication with the Earth, and also conducted a number of scientific research.

Presence on board the ship of the scientific employee K.P. Feoktistova made it possible to significantly expand the program of research and conduct various observations of astronomical and geophysical nature. The inclusion in the crew of the doctor B.B. Egorova emphasized the importance of control over the state of astronauts and the need for detailed medical and biological research directly in the cosmic flight. Boris Egorov registered brain biotoks and electric potentials arising from arbitrary and involuntary movements.

October 13, 1964, following the flight program, the spacecraft “Sunrise-1” successfully landed on the ground, using the soft landing system for the first time.
