Afghan doctors complained about 14-month salary delay

Hundreds of Afghan doctors from Samgangan and Nuristan provinces gathered at the UN Mission Building to promote Afghanistan (UNAMA) and demanded a wage from the World Bank for the last 14 months. It is reported by Khaama Press.

Protesters complain not only to delay payments, but also on the critical lack of drugs in hospitals. They asked the Bank directly to send them money through the Ministry of Health of Afghanistan or other non-governmental organizations, since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) has no relationship with the World Bank.

Doctors accused of stealing their wages of the Afghan Contractor of the World Bank Assad Fayaz, who took the money of the organization and fled from Afghanistan. “He headed the corrupt company, which led to an increase in the children’s and maternal mortality in the provinces of Samangan and Nuristan,” the doctors emphasized.

Previously, the Afghan health care system was predetermined by collapse. At the moment, only 17 percent of Afghan medical institutions work fully. Many of Afghanistan’s medical centers stopped their work due to lack of drugs and personnel. This led to an increase in the load on Kabul hospitals. At the same time, the capital is also not enough doctors and medicines, and the increase in the number of patients aggravates the problem.
