Ambassador of European Union warned of risk to reputation of Russia due to gas prices

Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Markus Ederor in an interview with RBC warned that the EU countries are concerned about the rapid growth of gas prices.

According to him, Russia should also have a certain concern, since this may lead to risk of accelerating the gas replacement process in the European Union renewable energy resources. “Secondly, in my opinion, the reputation of Russia as a reliable supplier may suffer, if it seems that it cannot or at the moment does not want to respond to growing demand,” the ambassador said.

In addition, Ederor noted that the lack of reaction may be regarded as an attempt to put pressure in order to accelerate the commissioning of “Northern Flow-2”.

According to the source of the publication, the reasons for the increase in gas prices are complex. Among them, he highlighted the demand for Asian markets, the implementation of LNG supplies mainly to Asia and the restoration of EU countries.

Earlier General Director of the International Gas and Engineering Company Linde Engineering Jurgen Novitski revealed the cause of the gas crisis in Europe. According to him, the gas crisis in Europe is caused by internal reasons – the countries of the European Union could not provide gas supplies by the time when the demand of national economies restored after Lockadunov exceeded the proposal.
