Rosneft wanted to help fill out “Northern Stream-2”

Rosneft Head Igor Sechin wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to allow the company to export 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year through the Agency Agreement with Gazprom. This is happening against the backdrop of record high fuel prices in Europe, Kommersant writes.

For the ability to export gas, the company is ready to pay a significantly enlarged gas tax. It is estimated that Sechina, it can help bring an additional 37 billion rubles to the budget a year. It is assumed that the agent in exporting gas oil companies will be Gazprom.

The head of Rosneft notes that gas prices in Europe have reached a record level, but the current revenues to the export budget “do not fully reflect the favorable market opportuncture.” At the same time, the letter does not say, on which Rosneft route wants to export gas. At the same time, it is noted that the supply “will contribute to the withdrawal of restrictions” from the EU antimonopoly legislation on the permissible loading of gas pipelines “Northern Stream-1” and “Northern Stream-2”, as well as OPAL (continued “Northern Flow-1”).

Earlier, the company NORD Stream 2 AG, the construction operator “Northern Flow-2”, lost in the German court the case of the release of the gas pipeline from the norms of the updated Gas Directive of the European Union. In the case of “Northern Flow-2”, this means that Gazprom can fill up no more than 50 percent of the volume. The remaining power must be reserved under an independent supplier. In Russia, this is impossible, since Gazprom is a monopolist in the export of gas through pipelines.
