Ministry of Energy estimated likelihood of a ban on gasoline export

Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia Pavel Sorokin estimated the likelihood of a ban on the export of gasoline in Russia in an interview with the newspaper Izvestia.

According to Sorokina, this ban, like others, can enter if necessary. In particular, this is possible if the volume of raw materials will begin to go to export. “But we would still like to minimally interfere in the market with some measures that can completely break it. As we know, the prohibition is easy to enter, and then it is much harder to cancel it,” he explained.

The politician pointed out that the effect of such measures continues for a very long time. “Plus, this is unpredictable policies and other factors that influence investment decisions in the modernization of the refinery,” he added. Sorokin also noted that all possible measures that can be applied are always on the agenda.

The fact that the Ministry of Energy of Russia offered the government to issue an instruction on the launch of the procedure for banning gasoline exports in an expedited manner, it became known at the end of July. It was about the limitation of the export of brands AI-92 and AI-95 for a period of three months. Later, the “Kommersant” reported that the Government of Russia changed his mind to introduce this measure.
