Buyer of RD-180 in United States announced end of relations with Russia

The Alliance United Launch Alliance (ULA) Corporations Lockheed Martin and Boeing stopped selling heavy ATLAS V missiles and will no longer buy Russian RD-180-Step RD-180 engines for them, reports ARSTECHNICA.

Before the completion of the operation scheduled for the middle of the current decade, this carrier must make another 29 starts. All relevant missiles have already been sold. The replacement of Atlas V will receive the developed ULA heavy VULCAN carrier with American BE-4-4-stage American engines.

According to the head of ULA, Tori Bruno, the Alliance purchased the Alliance in advance from the Russian side all the RD-180 engines for the remaining starts of ATLAS V, three or four of which are installed on the first steps of carriers, and the remaining in the warehouse. “So I can put an end to these relationships [with Russia],” – leads the verge manager’s statement.

In August, the general director of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, in an interview with CNN, considered Russia and the United States with friends in space.

In April, the Asstechnica edition reported that Amazon concluded an agreement with the ULA Alliance, which involves the launch of Satellite Internet spacecraft KUIPER on nine ATLAS V Rockets.

In April “Roskosmos” said that the Scientific and Production Association (NGOs) “Energomash” transferred the American side of the last six RD-180 engines.
