European Commission requested sanctions against Poland due to judicial reforms

The European Commission (EC) demanded impossible sanctions against Poland due to judicial reforms: in the EU executive body came to the conclusion that the Polish state undermines the independence of the judicial system. This was stated by the Commissioner on Justice of Didier Rhine, the press release on the EC site says.

It is noted that the European Commission has previously demanded from Warsaw a reaction to dissatisfaction from Brussels: it was required to stop the work of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court of Poland – the authority, which is considered unreasonably controlling Polish courts. Requirements arrived on July 15 – however, the Polish side did not cooperate with the European authorities.

The exact amount of financial measures that the European Commission offers are not voiced: the size of the fines will be determined during the proceedings.

In July, it became known that the European Commission threatened by the court of Hungary and Poland by the Court due to the laws currently operating in the country, which infringe on the LGBT community. Countries gave two months to soften the laws on LGBT propaganda, and then the EC will contact the European Court

Shortly before that, the EC did not approve the plan for the restoration of the economy of Hungary after the country adopted a new Law on LGBT, prohibiting the details about homosexuality to children. Budapest risks not to get more than 7.2 billion euros (about 8.5 billion dollars).
