Probenecide suppresses the process of replicating the virus in infected cells, thereby preventing its distribution in the body. During clinical studies on hamsters, scientists from the University of Georgia and Trippbio have shown that the drug can be used as a prophylactic agent before or after infection against coronavirus and influenza. In addition, in cell cultures, the effectiveness of the probecid against the respiratory syncytial human virus was shown.
In addition to direct action, the probenecide can increase the efficiency of other drugs, researchers mark. Already, it is used in order to enhance the effect of some antibiotics.
