Release Multimedia Server Pipewire 0.3.35

Published Project release PipeWire 0.3.35 , developing a multimedia server of a new generation, which is replaced by Pulseaudio. PipeWire has advanced compared to Pulseaudio tools for working with video streams, the ability to process sound with minimal delays and a new security model to manage individual devices and streams. The project is supported in GNOME and is already the default applied to Fedora Linux. The project code is written in Si language and extends under the LGPLV2.1 license.

Basic Changes in PipeWire 0.3.35:

  • Added support for the S / PDIF protocol for transmitting digital audio through optical connectors and HDMI.
  • Codecs for Bluetooth are made in separate plugins that are loaded dynamically.
  • A series of important corrections related to MIDI support are made.
  • improved SkypeForinux application, due to the addition of binding , forcibly comprising using S16 format when transferring information about the input and output devices. The change made it possible to solve the problem resulting in the absence of sound from the subscriber from another end of the connection.
  • The number of audio formats available for mixing are extended.
  • Added a new interface for loading modules. Plugins can use this interface to send a SPA-plugin boot request.
  • The size of the parameter buffer is increased, which previously could not accommodate all the properties of nodes with a large number of channels.
  • activation of drivers when installing loopback (LOOPBACK).
  • The server implements the Device-Restore extension that allows you to configure the IEC958 (S / PDIF) codecs through the PAVUCONTROL utility (S / PDIF) supported by the sound output device.

Recall, PipeWire expands the scope of using Pulseaudio with processing any multimedia streams and is able to mix and redirect streams with video. PipeWire also provides features for managing video sources, such as video capture devices, webcams, or application displayed by applications. For example, Pipewire makes it possible to organize the collaboration of multiple applications with a webcam and solves problems with secure screen content capture and remote access to the screen surrounded by Wayland.

Pipewire can also act as a sound server that provides minimal delays and providing functionality that combines Pulseaudio
