France: Russia said “a very aggressive rival”

Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of France Francois Lekuantr (François Lecointre) called Russia a “very aggressive opponent” in the underwater and outer spaces. About it reports Le Figaro.

He stated that Russia, China and Iran challenge global stability and international law. He also accused Moscow intention to weaken the democratic model of the West with the help of actions not only in the digital sphere, but also international influence.

Lekuantr stressed that the Russian authorities “without oscillations interfere with the election processes and surround the misinformation of military operations in the media and social networks”, but did not provide evidence of their accusations.

Head of the General Staff also noted that the international community moves to a change in world order. He concluded that all political kilions, including in Europe, will soon have to “choose their side” in the confrontation of the United States and China. “It will be very difficult, because neither France nor Europe is interested in this,” the lecturer explained. He stated that European countries should not be drawn into unreasonable geopolitical confrontation.

Earlier in May, President of France Emmanuel Macron supported the resumption of the dialogue between Russia and the United States in the field of arms control. He also recalled the need to restore strategic stability and security in the European territory.
