Blocking Suez Canal “undermined” manufacture of clothes in Russia

The blocking of the vessel of the Suez Channel led to the delay in deliveries to Russia of materials and “undermined” the manufacture of clothes. This was told by RIA Novosti Founder and general director of the group of companies “Portnovskaya Manufactory Shishkin” Dmitry Shishkin.

He noted that the raw material for production goes into the country twicear than or need to overpay at times so that it comes on time. In addition to the rise in price of logistics, the cost of clothing is affected by the dynamics of currency courses. A large number of materials and accessories have a foreign origin, said Shishkin. The entrepreneur added that the issue of importing tissues and accessories is currently being actively worked out.

Suez Canal was blocked by the Ever Given ship on March 23. Experts did not exclude that a few weeks would leave for liberation, but to remove the ship from the Mel and towed to a large bitter lake was found on March 29. Navigation resumed by the evening of the same day.

Later, Egypt’s authorities were arrested by Ever Given and demanded a redemption from its owner – compensation in the amount of 900 million dollars. The amount includes the cost of removing the container carrier with the grieces, its repair, as well as the payment of economic losses incurred by the channel administration due to its blocking.
