Russia responded to US on charge of interference in elections

The US intelligence report, which contains an accusation against Russia of interfering in the American elections, is a lie and disinformation, designed to justify the factually aimless activities of the intelligence services. This was stated in a television speech by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, RIA Novosti reports.

“Firstly, this is another portion of lies and misinformation, fakes, and secondly, it is already necessary to come up with something more interesting, fresher, more realistic, and it is no longer possible for the state bodies of the United States of America to manipulate public opinion inside their country so much” , – quotes the agency as words of Zakharova.

Earlier, the Russian embassy in Washington reacted to the content of the report: there it was called “another set of baseless accusations”.

On March 16, US intelligence released a report in which it accused Russia and Iran of interfering in the 2020 presidential election. Washington accuses Moscow of trying to support the re-election of ex-President Donald Trump, discredit US leader Joe Biden and “sow discord” in American society. At the same time, Iran also allegedly “made attempts to influence the elections in the United States” and tried to prevent Trump’s victory. In this regard, the United States has already announced sanctions against countries.
