Head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Lyien announced the third wave of coronavirus infection in Europe. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to her, the situation causes serious concern. “In many EU countries, the infection is growing up again,” said a press conference in the Summit of the Heads of the European Union.
Head of the EC noted that it emphasizes the importance of vaccination. EU countries from the moment of the beginning of the vaccination campaign received 88 million doses of various drugs against COVID-19, of which 62 million doses were introduced. About 18.2 million people were completely vaccinated.
Previously Ursula von der Lyien also reported the deterioration of the situation with coronavirus in Europe. According to her, this is due to a decrease in vaccination rate. The culprit of such a situation was Astrazeneca, which did not put and did not produce the amount of vaccines that was spelled out in the contract.
