At the beginning of the meeting, Dmitry Rogozin again congratulated the UAE Space Agency and the Emirates Specialists with brilliant successes in the implementation of the Martian Mission – the Launch of the Space Probe “Nadezhda” in July 2020, to the preparation and implementation of which Ms. Al-Aamiri had a direct attitude. During the business conversation, the Russian and Emirates discussed the current state and prospects for mutually beneficial Russian-emirate cooperation in the field of peace cosmos. The parties noted the high potential and greater importance of this topic in the relationship between our countries.
It was emphasized that Russian-emirate cooperation is not standing on the spot: just a year and a half ago, an important project for the preparation and launch of the first astronaut of the United Arab Emirates Hazza Al-Mansuri was successfully implemented, and at present the parties are discussing no less important and large joint Projects. From 2020, in order to expand cooperation, work is underway on the project of a framework intergovernmental bilateral agreement on space. To date, the Russian side has successfully completed all the necessary domestic procedures necessary for the signing of this Agreement.
Certain progress has been made on a trilateral initiative with the participation of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding the modernization and operation of the Gagarin Start start-up complex on the Baikonur cosmodrome. Work is underway to coordinate the draft agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation, the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Kazakhstan. Parties confirmed interest and readiness to implement other mutually beneficial and relevant for Russia and UAE joint projects and programs.
