Russian Foreign Ministry stated a decrease in reliability of dollar

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated a decrease in the reliability of the dollar due to the unpredictable US policy. About this in an interview with RIA Novosti, the deputy head of the department Alexander Pankin.

He explained that the reduction of the use of the dollar as a transaction mutual settlement was a logical reaction to US policies and the uncontrolled imposition of sanctions. Thus, the reliability and convenience of the dollar as a priority currency of the contract turned out to be in doubt.

“In this light, the expansion of the use of national monetary units in trading operations with other states is becoming increasingly relevant and becomes an important direction of the current foreign economic agenda,” Pankin stressed.

Earlier, the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that Russia would gradually get rid of dollar dependence. According to him, it is planned to transition to national currencies in bilateral trade and economic relations with many countries, including within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

In the past few years, Russia has consistently reduced the dependence on American assets. Thus, in January 2021, gold received the dollar for the first time in the country’s international reserves.
