The overall readiness of the second power unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (Beestes) is estimated at 80 percent. This was stated by the Minister of Energy of the country Viktor Karankevich in an interview with the television channel “Belarus 1”.
“this year was already provided with a reactor assembly, the loading assembly simulator simulator in it is also planned to transition in the near future to the next sub-step – the so-called cold and hot robes of the reactor installation,” the head of the department explained. According to him, for 2021, it is expected to supply fresh nuclear fuel, its loading to the active zone of the reactor and the beginning of the physical start-up.
The first power unit continues the stage of expressive operation, within which tests and regulatory work are carried out. To date, 309 were completed from 394 tests. After that, experts will switch to integrated testing – this is the work on the rated power of the reactor installation within 15 days.
On January 13, the first power unit Belayes was withdrawn by 100 percent of the capacity, the specialists began preparation for testing on the facility. It was noted that, before the introduction of an object to industrial operation, engineers will hold a complex of static and dynamic research on it to make sure that the equipment is working.
