In Hong Kong, a 90-year-old woman gave by telephone fraudsters that introduced Chinese officials, 32 million dollars. This is reported by the edition of South China Morning Post.
The attackers pretended to employees of China’s public security bodies and told the elderly millionaire that her personal data was allegedly used to commit crimes on the territory of the mainland China. Fraudsters asked for a woman to translate their funds to bank accounts that supposedly belonged to investigators so that they could check the origin of its property.
The incident has become the largest case of telephone fraud fixed in Hong Kong. It is reported that the police arrested a 19-year-old student on charges of involvement in a crime. They also managed to freeze bank accounts on which $ 1.16 million remained – the attackers managed to withdraw the remaining funds.
At the end of March, it was reported that a group of armed people, disguised in the police, robbed the Colombian Conference of Catholic Bishops in Bogota. The attackers tied the protection, shut up the mouths to all participants in the conference and locked them in one of the rooms. After that, the fraudsters stole about 55 million pesos from the safe (15 thousand dollars) and disappeared on four cars.
