Police in United States banned from reporting on use of alcohol and marijuana by children

New Jersey (US state) passed a new law according to which marijuana was allowed to be used “for recreational purposes.” Reported by NBC New York.

You can legally own marijuana from the age of 21. Growing marijuana on your own is not yet allowed.

Insider NJ notes that state police have also banned reporting to parents of minors that they were caught drinking alcohol or marijuana. However, this applies only to the first case: if children are noticed for the illegal use of drugs for the second time, their parents will be reported about it. For the third time, minors will be referred to drug treatment services.

Senator Michael Doherty fears that the new law will be “another step in replacing parents with the Democratic Party government.” In his opinion, the prohibition to tell parents that their children have been noticed for drinking alcohol or cannabis deprives them of the opportunity to raise their offspring.

At the end of February, lawmakers in the US state of Virginia approved a bill that would allow recreational marijuana use from 2024. The legal sale of cannabis may begin in 2024, and home cultivation will also be allowed.
