Russia mulling to do with cryptocurrency following example of drugs

The State Duma wanted to do with cryptocurrency following the example of drugs – in the lower house of parliament they believe that digital money needs to be legalized and regulated following the example of drug trafficking. This proposal was made by the deputy, the head of the committee on legislation Pavel Krasheninnikov, writes EAN.

The parliamentarian noted that while the Russian authorities hold a controversial position on the issue of digital currencies. According to him, the government, on the one hand, does not want to legalize them, and on the other hand, it wants to collect taxes. Krasheninnikov noted that the current legislation on cryptocurrencies does not answer the question of whether trading in them in Russia is legal.

“It is necessary to be able to carry out legal transactions [with cryptocurrency], so that there is a possibility of inheritance, it must be included in joint ownership. Now it does not go anywhere. Let such currencies be of limited circulation, as, for example, happens with narcotic drugs , when somewhere it is possible, somewhere it is impossible “, – he said.

Since 2021, the law “On Digital Finance” has come into force in Russia, which defines cryptocurrencies, but prohibits their use in the country as a means of payment. In mid-February of this year, the State Duma approved in the first reading a bill on income tax or tax on personal income received from transactions with digital currencies.
