The authorities of the American state of Oregon found the idea of white supremacy in the traditional math course. According to the state’s Department of Education, it manifests itself in a focus on finding the right answer, Fox News reports.
So, the department sent out invitations to teachers for the Pathway to Math Equity Micro-Course. “The notion that mathematics is purely objective is unambiguously false, and teaching it even less so,” the course website says.
According to its authors, the belief that there is objectivity or neutrality is a characteristic of white supremacy. Instead of the usual course, teachers are encouraged to use “ethnomathematics”, which would identify ways of using mathematics to promote racism.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the main terrorist threat inside the country is white racism. “I will make sure that we essentially focus on fighting the growing white supremacy movement,” said the head of state.
