WHO found it difficult to name end of coronavirus pandemic

The representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Russia Melita Vujnovich found it difficult to say when the coronavirus pandemic will end. She told about this on the air of the TV channel “Russia 1”, RIA Novosti reports.

According to her, in order to talk about the end of the epidemic, several factors must develop. In particular, in all regions of the world, the number of cases should simultaneously decrease to a level below the epidemiological threshold. But the main aspect will be the moment when the burden on the health care system does not interfere with its normal operation.

On February 15, WHO head Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus said that the incidence of COVID-19 has halved since the beginning of the year. Gebreisus added that the current trend in the situation with the coronavirus gives more hope that the pandemic can be brought under control. How the global community responds to the decline in disease will also be important. The head of the WHO concluded that the problem has not yet been finally resolved, although its scale has diminished, and if the struggle on any of the fronts is stopped, it will return with a deafening thunder.
