The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, in an interview with RBC, named the topics of the upcoming talks between President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
“I do not exclude that the topic of interaction in the financial and credit sphere may be touched upon. But this does not mean that Belarus will necessarily ask for loans from Russia and ask for any help. Perhaps, the issue of financial and credit interaction with the point of view of the implementation of various profitable joint projects “, – said Makei.
Earlier, Kommersant, citing its sources, reported that Lukashenko intends to discuss with Putin the issue of providing Belarus with a $ 3 billion loan. Minsk wants to get access to the balance of funds allocated by Moscow for the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. The Ministry of Finance of Belarus denied this information.
“I think that the topic of building a nuclear power plant as a very important topic will be discussed,” said Makei.
When asked whether specific proposals for the integration of the two countries will be prepared for the presidential talks, the Foreign Minister replied that “there are specific things that allow us to say that the integration processes are moving forward.” “The presidents will have really good material on their table to discuss the future of our relationship,” he added.
