Millions of Japanese will be left without a vaccine due to wrong syringes

Millions of Japanese will be left without a Pfizer coronavirus vaccine due to the wrong syringes. This is reported by The Japan Times with reference to the head of the country’s Ministry of Health, Norihisa Tamura.

Last month, the government said it had received enough doses to vaccinate 72 million people, based on six doses per ampoule. However, the standard syringes used in Japan can only deliver five doses.

The government has asked medical equipment manufacturers to start producing special syringes. According to a government spokesman, the sixth dose that cannot be removed from the ampoule will still have to be thrown away.

Earlier it was reported that almost two thousand doses of Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine were destroyed in the United States due to a cleaner who accidentally disconnected the refrigerator from the network. Due to the temperature difference, the doses of the drug stored in it became unusable.
