Spending on media support from the federal budget will be the reason for the study of the Accounts Chamber. This is stated in the list of monitoring activities planned for 2021. The document was published on the website of the department.
The checks will concern VGTRK, Public Television of Russia (OTR) and Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The largest of them remains the first holding, which includes many TV channels and radio stations, including the Rossiya TV channel. One of his main projects is the social and political show “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov”.
The section is designated as “Checking the effectiveness of subsidizing organizations in the field of mass communications and assessing the compliance of their development with the trends of the modern media space in 2018-2019 and the past period of 2020”. In addition to the media, the auditors will study the costs of Rospechat and the use of the Ostankino television center.
In total, the department is preparing more than 400 inspections. Part will touch upon the implementation of national projects at the federal and regional levels. Auditors will come to banks with state participation, the result of their work may be their sale.
In 2021, it was decided to increase federal budget spending on the media compared to plans. Resources such as RT, VGTRK, Rossiya Segodnya, Channel One, and Public Television of Russia will receive the same money as last year, although back in 2019, before the onset of the crisis, it was proposed to cut them. Meanwhile, to fight the budget deficit, the funds allocated for education, demographic projects and pensions will be reduced.
