EU allocated 13 million euros to help Russians during a pandemic

The European Union has allocated 13 million euros to support vulnerable groups of the population in Russia to the coronavirus epidemic. This was announced by Josep Borrell, High Representative of the EU for Foreign and Security Policy, in an interview with Interfax.

“To date, the EU has mobilized € 38.5 billion to help its partner countries around the world address urgent health and humanitarian needs, and to strengthen health systems and support economic recovery and social protection measures.” , – Borrell said and specified that 13 million are intended for the Russian Federation.

In the same interview, Borrell called on the European Union to maintain ties with Russia: in his opinion, if the European Union wants to become a global player, it should cooperate with Moscow as one of its key partners.

January 29 Borrell assessed the EU’s relations with Russia as one of the most difficult. However, in some areas the parties are indeed cooperating and should cooperate even more, he added.
