Tajik authorities announce victory over coronavirus open mosques

The Tajik authorities, which had previously announced victory over the coronavirus, opened mosques after a nine-month break. Radio Ozodi reports this.

On February 1, hundreds of believers came to pray at the central mosque in Dushanbe. The head of the Council of Ulemas of the Islamic Center of Tajikistan called on them to strictly observe sanitary regulations. The day before, all the premises of the mosque were treated with a disinfectant.

The Republican Headquarters for the Prevention of Coronavirus has warned that mosques that do not comply with hygiene requirements will be banned.

On January 26, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon announced a complete victory over the spread of the coronavirus. According to him, there are no more infected people in the country, and the causative agent of the disease has been “completely destroyed”.

According to official data, since the beginning of the pandemic, coronavirus in Tajikistan has been detected in 13,308 people, 90 patients have died. No new cases of COVID-19 have been detected since December 30.
