A literary salon “Word and Space” dedicated to Joseph Brodsky was held

On Friday, January 29, 2021, the second literary parlor “Every Christmas is a Little Magi” took place with a direct connection to the International Space Station. The commander of the long-term expedition ISS-64, Roskosmos cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov took part in the literary dialogue, who spoke about his perception of the work of Joseph Brodsky and showed Christmas photographs taken from the station in early 2021.

The Literary Lounge united the ISS and 23 countries of the world. One of the online sites of the event was the House-Museum of IA Brodsky in the village of Norinskaya, where the poet was in exile in 1964-1965 and wrote the poem “January 1, 1965”. The event was attended by the author and performer of songs Viktor Popov, Doctor of Philology, Professor of the Higher School of Economics, author of publications on the poetics of Joseph Brodsky Oleg Lekmanov, Candidate of Philology, Head of the Department of World Literature of the Pushkin Institute Alexander Pashkov. The second literary lounge was devoted to a cycle of 21 poems, which reflect the throwing of a modern person and the fate of the author.

The organizers of the cycle of literary drawing rooms “Word and Space” are the State Corporation “Roscosmos”, the State Institute of the Russian Language named after A.S. Pushkin and the Moscow Provincial Universal Library. Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Ryzhikov initiated the idea of ​​literary space living rooms.
