Brazilian president justifies unwillingness to fight coronavirus

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro justified the refusal to introduce epidemiological measures by the fact that people expect “eternal life with coronavirus.” He is quoted by the Daily Mail.

He called on regional politicians to abandon mandatory control over the observance of social distance and instead “learn to live with the virus.” In his opinion, restrictions – for example, mandatory self-isolation – will not lead to anything.

The Daily Mail recalls that Bolsonaro has been repeatedly criticized for not wanting to fight the pandemic, which has led to a huge increase in deaths.

At the same time, in December, the Brazilian Supreme Court allowed to punish people for refusing to be vaccinated against coronavirus. Those who refuse vaccination may be barred from visiting public places or certain activities. The court also stressed that no one would be forcibly vaccinated. Vaccination without the person’s consent was considered a violation of the constitution.
