China explained introduction of sanctions against Trump administration

China has decided to impose sanctions against former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and several other members of the Donald Trump administration, because they have undermined relations between the two countries to serve their own interests and must pay for it. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Hua Chunying, RIA Novosti quoted her words.

“China’s sanctions against these US citizens were a response to their erroneous actions, which are undermining China’s sovereignty and interference in the internal affairs of the PRC,” the diplomat said. Hua Chunying stressed that the move demonstrates Beijing’s determination to uphold its national interests.

On January 20, Beijing imposed sanctions against 28 US citizens. The foreign ministry said in a statement that the reason for the restrictions was “insane actions that interfere in the internal affairs of the PRC and undermine Chinese interests.”

The White House called the imposition of sanctions on the day of the inauguration of new President Joe Biden unproductive. National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn said the move is an attempt at a game aimed at creating a split between the two parties. She called on all Americans to criticize China’s cynical decision.
