Iran named involved in assassination of General Soleimani

The Iranian authorities have compiled a list of 48 people involved in the assassination of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani, head of the elite Al-Quds special unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). This was reported by Mehr News, citing an Iranian official.

The chapter Human Rights Council Ali Bagheri Kani said that the Iranian authorities were able to identify the 48 persons involved in the killing of Soleimani and took steps to bring them to justice. In particular, Tehran appealed to the countries that were somehow involved in the operation to eliminate the commander of the IRGC, with a demand to provide information.

According to the official, Germany became the last country to which the Iranian government addressed such a request. “We received information that the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany participated in the exchange of data between American drones that were used to kill Soleimani,” he explained.

On December 26, Deputy commander of the IRGC detachment, Mohammad Khedzhazi said that revenge for the assassination of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani remains on the agenda. Hejazi recalled that Iran has already launched a retaliatory missile strike at the American military base Ain al-Assad. According to the military, the next step should be the expulsion of American forces from the region.

The assassination of Soleimani was committed by the US military on January 3, 2020 in Iraqi Baghdad. After that, relations between the countries heated up. In response, on the night of January 8, several American military installations in Iraq were attacked by the Iranian IRGC. After that, the US President Donald Trump announced the introduction of new sanctions.
