Moderna destroyed 400 thousand doses of coronavirus vaccine

The American company Moderna has destroyed approximately 400,000 doses of its coronavirus vaccine, reports Bloomberg citing the adviser to the President of the United States on vaccine development Moncef Sloughi.

Moderna was reportedly forced to reject the batch due to filtration problems late in production. The drug has not yet been filled into ampoules. However, the company believes that the incident will not affect plans to produce 20 million doses by the end of the month.

Previously, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Profile Committee at Ministry of Health and the US social services approved the use of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine. The vaccine is recommended for persons over 18 years old.

Before that, December 13, the leadership of the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has approved the use of a vaccine from BioNTech in the US and Pfizer in an emergency. The first person to receive the vaccine from BioNTech and Pfizer in the United States was New York nurse Sandra Lindsay, who has worked with COVID-19 patients for the past ten months.
