Brazilian court authorizes punishment for refusal to vaccinate against COVID-19

Brazil was allowed to punish people for refusing to be vaccinated against coronavirus. The corresponding decision was made by the Supreme Court of the country, reports Folha.

The penalty for refusing to be vaccinated will be bans on public places or certain activities. “In a country like Brazil, where almost 200,000 people have died from COVID-19, the preservation of the life and health of both individuals and the whole society is paramount. When discussing this topic, it is impermissible to slip into demagogy, hypocrisy, ideological disputes, obscurantism, pre-election political debate and, most importantly, ignorance, “one of the judges noted.

Thus, vaccination against coronavirus could actually become mandatory if the Brazilian authorities pass the relevant laws at the national or local level. At the same time, the court emphasized that no one would be forcibly vaccinated. Vaccination without the person’s consent was considered a violation of the constitution.

According to the latest data, 7,110,434 people have contracted the coronavirus in Brazil since the beginning of the pandemic. Over 184,000 people have died from complications from the disease.
