Lukashenka urged Belarusians to live together

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko called on his fellow citizens to save the country, BelTA informs.

“I want you to understand my position, it is unchanged: let’s live together, save the country. And we will save it, no matter what it costs us, and not for me, and not for him – this is already for our grandchildren.” , – said Lukashenko at a meeting with the staff of the Mogilev Regional Clinical Hospital.

He called it his main task and promised that citizens will decide everything.

Lukashenko added that he does not seek to retain power at any cost, but he is not going to surrender the country either. “I will not run anywhere, so you know. Nowhere. It’s good that time passed and people saw who was eager for power. It’s not about me,” he said.

In Belarus, mass protests have continued for four months due to the official results of the presidential elections, according to which Lukashenko, who ran for the sixth term, received 80 percent of the votes, and the main opposition candidate, the wife of the arrested blogger Svetlana Tikhanovskaya – 10 percent.

The protesters demand the resignation of the country’s leadership, new and fair elections, the release of political prisoners and the prosecution of those responsible for the violence against the demonstrators.

Lukashenka himself claims that the West is behind what is happening.
