Crimean plant “Massandra” privatized

Massandra Crimean Winery has been sold to Rossiya Bank … All 100 percent of the alcohol producer’s shares were purchased by the Yuzhny Project company, writes Kryminform . The starting price of the auction was 5.3 billion rubles, the final amount of the transaction was 5.327 billion.

Southern Project (99.9 percent of the company belongs to Bank Rossiya) is registered in St. Petersburg. Massandra is not the first alcoholic beverage producer acquired by Yuzhny Bereg: in 2017, the company bought the Novy Svet champagne factory for 1.5 billion rubles.

The Crimean Parliament approved the privatization of “Massandra” – the largest and oldest winery in Crimea – in October 2020. The idea was proposed by the head of the republic Sergey Aksenov . The Council of Ministers of Crimea transferred the enterprise to the presidential administration in 2014, the government gave the plant to the ownership of Crimea in 2019.

In the fall of 2020, the Crimean leadership transformed the state unitary enterprise into a joint stock company. The authorized capital of the company amounted to 3.576 billion rubles. As a result, 100 percent of Massandra’s shares ended up with the region’s Property Ministry. In total “Massandra” unites eight wineries – branches.

In MFA Ukraine spoke out against the sale of the enterprise. The ministry said that “Massandra” is under the control of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and any alienation of the enterprise’s property would be a crime.
