Republicans refused to recognize Biden as President of United States

Republican leaders in US Congress refused to pass a resolution recognizing a Democrat Joseph Biden as the country’s president-elect, according to CNN.

The leader of the Democratic Majority of the House of Representatives of the Congress Steny Hoyer proposed to adopt this resolution on meeting of the Joint Committee of Congress for the inauguration ceremony of the President of the United States. The committee includes Democrats and Republicans.

However, representatives of Republican Party voted against Hoyer’s proposal. In particular, the leader of the Republicans in the Senate opposed Mitch McConnell , chairman of the committee Roy Blunt and Republican minority leader of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy .

Earlier it was reported that in the US Congress 25 out of 249 party members of the current American President of the Republican Donald Trump recognized the victory of Democrat Joseph Biden in the presidential elections held in the country. At the same time, two said they considered Trump the winner, while the remaining 222 did not give a clear answer.
