A farmer spent 200 on a piece of land and found a diamond worth six million there

A farmer from the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh found a diamond, reports The Times of India.

In November, 45-year-old Lakhan Yadav rented a piece of land about three by three meters for 200 rupees (200 rubles). While looking over the ground, the farmer noticed an unusual crystal. He showed it to a specialist, who determined that the find was a 14.98-carat diamond.

On Saturday, December 5, the gem went under the hammer for six million rupees (six million rubles). At the request of his nephews, the farmer spent part of the proceeds on the purchase of a motorcycle. He plans to spend the rest of the money on educating children.

“I hope to find another diamond,” says Yadav. “I’ll work on this site for a few more months, maybe extend the lease.” Previously, the farmer only had a bicycle, a couple of buffaloes and two hectares of land, which he purchased with compensation received after his village was evicted from Panna National Park.

In 2019 it was reported that in the city of Kalgoorlie, Australia, a gold miner discovered a huge piece of gold worth 100 thousand Australian dollars (4.4 million rubles). Photos of the find weighing 1.4 kilograms were published in the Finders Keepers Gold Prospecting group on Facebook.
