Dozens of robbers took over city, blew up a bank and scattered thousands of bills

Dozens of robbers seized the city of Crisiuma in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina for two hours, blew up a bank and disappeared, throwing money around the streets, reports The Guardian.

About 30 criminals with large-caliber weapons drove through the city in a convoy of luxury cars. They blocked all exits from the central part of Crisiuma, including the tunnel leading to the neighboring city, and took six road workers hostage.

The alleged target of the raid was city banks, one of which the robbers mined and blew up. After a two-hour confrontation with the police, they managed to escape. To interfere with the pursuit, when retreating, they scattered packs of bills, which were immediately attacked by local residents. Four townspeople managed to pick up 810 thousand reais (11.7 million rubles), but were arrested.

Two police officers were wounded during the shootout, Unilad reports. Presumably, two criminals were also injured.

In November it was reported that robbers entered a bank in the Italian city of Milan through the sewers, opened 20 safes and crawled back into the pipe. The police rushed after them, but could not find them.
