A man who ran into people in the pedestrian zone of the German city of Trier was drunk. This was announced at a press conference by the senior prosecutor of the city Peter Frizen, reports TASS .
“The suspect was under the influence of alcohol,” Fritzen said, adding that the test showed him 1.4 ppm.
According to the prosecutor, there is evidence that “mental illness may have occurred.” He also noted that the suspect was recently examined by a doctor from the health department. The prosecutor did not give the result of the examination.
That an unknown ran over on people in the pedestrian zone of Trier, became known earlier on December 1. Later it turned out that the hit resulted in the death of at least two people, injured before 15 people, some were seriously injured. A 51-year-old local resident, a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany, was driving the car. He was immediately detained by the police.
