World’s largest glove manufacturer has become a breeding ground for infection

The world’s largest manufacturer of medical gloves – Malaysian Top Glove – became a breeding ground for infection and was forced to close 20 of its production sites. This happened after thousands of employees of the company were diagnosed with the coronavirus, reports CNBC.

At least 2,684 people passed the positive test, mostly foreign workers. Now testing in factories and dormitories continues. A new epicenter for COVID-19 has emerged in Southeast Asia, according to the Malaysian Ministry of Health, and the government is now preparing to reintroduce restrictive measures.

In addition to rubber gloves, Top Glove also manufactures face masks, condoms and denture pads. The company owns and operates 46 manufacturing facilities in Malaysia, Thailand, China and Vietnam.

Prior to the closure of some of the factories, Top Glove remained one of the companies that continued to operate fully during the pandemic, given its global significance. The company said about 5,700 of its employees have been tested for the virus, and the rest of the workforce may be completed by the end of this week.
