USA, Taiwan Unite to Protect China from Cyber Threats

The US Congress has introduced a bill that requires the Pentagon to increase cooperation on cybersecurity with Taiwan to protect the island from China’s cyberattacks. The Cybersecurity Sustainability Act will give the US Defense Secretary the authority to undertake cyber operations with Taiwan, safeguarding military and infrastructure systems while eliminating any malicious digital activities aimed at the island.

The Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to undermine democracy around the world have been a concern, including the use of hostile cyberattacks, as stated in the proposed bill. The law is aimed at preventing China from utilizing Taiwan as a training ground for its cyber efforts, which are then directed towards the United States.

Lawmakers have stated that the bill will help to secure the island’s cyberspace, with a more durable partnership established between the United States and Taiwan to protect key systems that maintain the Island’s armed forces and economics. The proposed law is viewed as a vital step to thwart China’s cyber aggression towards Taiwan and the wider world.
