Distant OpenMandriva Rome 23.03 Released

OpenMandriva Project has recently released the OpenMandriva Rome 23.03 for its users. The distribution editorial office uses the continuous delivery of updates, which is also known as Rolling-missiles. This edition allows its users to access new versions of packages developed for the OpenMandriva LX 5 branch, without waiting for the formation of a classic distribution.

The ISO-images are available for downloads, with the size of 1.7- 2.9 GB, featuring KDE, GNOME, and LXQT desktops with support for loading in Live mode. The proposed edition also published the server assembly, and images for the board RASPBERRYPI 4 and Raspberrypi 400.

The release features new versions of packages, including the Linux 6.2 core, Systemd 253, GCC 12.2, Glibc 2.37, Java 21, and Virtualbox 7.0.6. Clang compiler used to assemble packages is updated to the LLVM branch 15.0.7. The components of the graphic stack, user environment and applications, including KDE Frameworks 5.104, KDE Plasma 5.27.3, KDE GEARS 22.12.3, Xorg Server 21.1.7, Wayland 1.21.0, Chromium 111.0, Firefox 111, Libreoffice 7.5.2.1, Krita 5.1.5, Digikam 7.10, Gimp 2.10.34, Calligra 3.2.1, SMPLAYER 22.7.0, and VLC 3.0.18.

The release also added packages in Flatpak format, and the formation of new assemblies began, including the Cut “Slim” Assembly with KDE and assembly with the user environment LXQT. Moreover, the server assembly is formed for options for Aarch64, X86_64, and Znver1, which is the assembly optimized for processors AMD Ryzen, Threadripper, and Epyc.

The release also offers assemblies for architecture ARM64, supporting RASPBERRY PII 4/400, Rock 5B, Rock 5b, Rock Pi 4 and ampere.

The release has been praised by users and developers alike, providing faster access to updated packages and applications.
