Linux 6.5 Released

August 27, 2023 – Linus Torvalds presented the new version of the nucleus of the Linux operating system – 6.5. The release passed in accordance with the schedule, two months after the release of the previous stable version – Linux 6.4, released at the end of June.

The source code of Linux 6.5 is now available for downloading on the resource kernel.org. You can also find the Commit for Linux 6.5 release on Github along with the Makefile from Linus Torwald SA.

Linux 6.5 introduces significant changes, including the new capabilities, updates, corrections, and improvements. Some of the key changes are:

  • Turning on the AMD P-STATE EPP driver by default for Zen 2 processors, replacing the ACPI CPUFREQ.
  • Support for new AMD Ryzen systems.
  • Added support for the Barlow Ridge controller from Intel.
  • Initial support for USB4 V2 and MIDI 2.0 nucleus drivers.
