China Boosts Robotization: Allocates 10B Yuan for Industry

The Chinese government is actively promoting the growth of the domestic robotics industry, as announced by the Beijing authorities. With a budget of 10 billion yuan ($1.4 billion or 130 billion rubles), they aim to stimulate developments in robotics in the capital of the country [1].

The funds from the announced fund will be used to support startups, develop commercial solutions, facilitate mergers and acquisitions of local industry companies. Additionally, the fund will provide subsidies to manufacturers of key robot components, including semiconductors and operating systems [2].

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the People’s Republic of China identified 10 priority industries for automation through robotics. By 2025, the country plans to achieve a density of 500 robots per 10,000 workers [3].

According to the International Robotics Federation, China ranked fifth globally in industrial robotization in 2021, surpassing Taiwan, the United States, Hong Kong, and Sweden. The number of newly installed robots saw a significant increase of 44% compared to 2020, totaling 243.3 thousand units [4].

China’s continuous efforts in developing and implementing robotics solidify its position as a leader in this field. Through significant state support, the country aims to become one of the world’s top players in this promising sector within the coming years [5].
