Césars 2023: “The night of 12”, big winner of evening

The film by Dominik Moll obtained six statuettes, including those of the best film and the best production, during the 48th ceremony, which was held on Friday at Olympia.

Like the famous statuette distributed to the winners, it was in a compressed version that on Friday, February 24, on the Olympia stage, in Paris, the 48th Césars ceremony took place. She was less heckled than usual, but curiously led at a run, seeing himself succeeding herself on the platform, instead of the usual master of ceremonies, a good half-dozen hosts and hostesses, as if he had had to accelerate things to make sure there is no incident. A sign that does not deceive: the antenna was made a little before midnight, on the traditional “family photo” of the awards, and the ritual shipped in three hours top chrono, instead of the usual four.

On arrival, the big winner of the evening is the night of the 12th, which wins both the emblematic title of best film and accumulates the most awards, six: that of the best director for Dominik Moll , of the best supporting actor for Bouli Lanners, the best male hope for the excellent Bastien Bouillon, but also the best adaptation and the best sound.

Pulsed from the story documented 18.3, a year at the PJ, by Pauline Guéna, the acclaimed film retraces a dark investigation into a case of feminicide in the alpine prejodder, and derives a reflection on the mined relationship of men towards women. There is no doubt that he represented an ideal candidate for the voting members of the academy, playing the card of the thriller, in France a master genus, very popular with the public, while instilling him with current themes.

In the race for the favorites, the film was only given second. He thus lady the pawn at the Innocent, a family robbery comedy of Louis Garrel, who, despite full of appointments, only leaves with two statuettes: one for Noémie Merlant consecrated best supporting actress, and the ‘Other rewarding the best scenario (Louis Garrel, Tanguy Viel and Naïla Guiguet).

Surprise success of the author’s cinema this year, the film arrives on the same line as Simone.
