Introduced Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2 firmware, which continues the development of a branch based on the Ubuntu 24.04 package base. The firmware is being developed by the UBports project, which took over the development of the Ubuntu Touch mobile platform after Canonical pulled away from it. The project is also developing an experimental desktop port Unity 8, which has been renamed Lomiri.
Among the changes in Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2:
- Due to the compromise of the eMudhra certification authority the list of root certificates has been updated.
- Problems with caching rules of the AppArmor mandatory access control system have been resolved, due to which, after updating the system from version 24.04-1.5 to 24.04-2.0, the Morph browser stopped launching.
- Work has been done to prepare the VoLTE (Voice over LTE) stack to support voice transmission technologies over LTE networks in new smartphone models. Support for the AIDL IImsRadio interface has been added to the ofono-binder-plugin-ext-qti plugin.
- After generating new assemblies in the Gallery 3.2.0 application, a regression was identified that led to the inability to open photo albums. The problem is fixed in Gallery version 3.2.1, which is recommended to be installed before updating Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2 or 24.04-1.6.
